The central figure grasps the necks of the beasts. Banded necklace with pendants and an elaborate double spiral girdle on the central tube. The central face has a feathered headdress, flanking beasts with gaping jaws, prominent round eyes, curling hind legs in low relief along side of the central face, and roosters' heads hanging from the haunches. Decor: the lower haunches of the central figure curve into fish footed legs and looped tails ending somewhat above the central tube base. It is symmetrical and identical in front and back.

Its fine delineation demonstrates the maximum effect of cire perdue method. One of many of this type from Luristan, unusually fine detail. Motif is old in the Near East. Hittites, e.g., had a 'mistress of animals' in historic times. Though frequently called Gilgamesh it is not substantiated as such (Moorey). Porada identifies it as "nature demon" long popular in western Persia. This demon, the roosters, and fondness for monsters rather than natural animals suggest Persian icongraphical source, though one school considers them Western Asiatic. Fish-tail feet are precursors of the fish-tail monster at Persepolis, and presence of roosters unlikely before 8th c BC. Fotograferas.
