Items for the Juju ritual.
Women who are trafficked from Nigeria are controlled by such means as
“juju”. The juju ritual is led by a master of ceremonies, and is performed
before the woman leaves Nigeria. Nail clippings, hair, menstrual blood or
other body fluids are taken from both the woman to be trafficked and the
trafficker. The rite unites the woman and the trafficker in a blood pact.
In principle this means that the trafficker owns the woman. Some of the
objects in this display are used in the ritual, while others belong on the
altar.
