Stockholm, April 6, 1948. Mrs, D. Carter, 123 East 69th St. Ne XY ork, 21 NY. Dear Mrs. Carter, Thank you so much for your long letter. It will be a pleasure to receive you here in August. Your beautiful new book has just arrived, and I will read it as soon as I get a moments" leisure I am very grateful to you for making inquiries for my part during the Society meeting, I shall really have no time to do any lecturing tour, in fact it was understood between the Rockefeller directors end myself that I am to devote my whole time to study of the instit- utions. Thanks for your remark about Princeton; I shall consequent- ly include that in my programme. For California I shall really have no time, which is a pity. But I do not want to rush through the Eastern institutions too quickly. My programme will be very crowd- ed as it is. - Thanks for your kind idea about some friend to enter- tein us. I believe it will be best to live in a hotel, but I shall appreciate very much indeed to come into personal contact with people such as you are thinking of, and my wife would be delighted to meet some nice American ladies. With kind regards, Yours dincerely
