Dear Mr Hughes,
I have received through doctor Classen your memorandum of
agreement concerning my history of Éhinese Art and I am quite willing
for my own personal part to accept the conditions proposed by
you, with the following modificetions:
$ 1. After the word typesceript should be added the words " of
volume 1." and after the word 1928 the words "and the remainder
before January ist 1929",
$ 2. The author disclaims all YR responsäbility for the limitation:
of the sale of the English edition and the parallel French edition.

except that I should like to have fbight instead of six

I also enelose here a draft for prospectus, which may be useful
to you. I composed it on the demand of van Oest, who is publighing it
in French. I hope that you Will find the above modifications neces.

with M. van Öest, and I wiilr send you the M 5 of the first volume,
as soon as I hear from you again.
The matter now beeing pråctiécally settled, I expect you will be
able to pay doctor fSlassen the translation fee, which is due to him,
since he has completed his work,
