Zoomorphically terminated pins are quite specific for Persia from the second millennium onwards. The lion head mask is the most typical Luristan type of all produced during the ninth to seventh centuries BC (Moorey). It appears on bracelets and axes and in pin form has been found stuck through an anthropomorphic tube mounted on a bottle shaped base (Godard). These straight pins were, however, more commonly used in pairs at the shoulders of garments (Porada).
