Rydén, Ingvor

Stig Rydén (1908-1965), elev till den framstående (syd-)amerikanisten Erland Nordenskiöld (död 1932), var verksam på Etnografiska museet tills hans plötsliga frånfälle i tjänsten. Rydén inriktade sin arkeologiska och etnografiska forskning på Sydamerikas indianer i t.ex. Argentina och Bolivia men även på t.ex. Linné-lärjungen Pehr Löfling och på frihetshjälten Francisco de Miranda, Venezuela. Stig Rydén gjorde dessutom ett viktigt bidrag i museets (tidigare) internationella tidskrift Ethnos (påbörjad 1936) om den berömda "Nya Sverige"(?)-samlingen på Skoklosters slott. De tämligen få föremålen i samlingen 1978.9 kan sägas spegla bredden i Rydén indianintresse. Stig Rydén (1908-1965), one of the prominent Swedish southamericanist Erland Nordenskiöld´s (dead 1932) students in Gothenburg, was employed at Museum of Ethnography until his sudden death. Rydén´s archaeological and ethnographical research was mainly focused on South America; fieldwork mainly in Argentina and Bolivia. Rydén had also other research themes; e.g. Linné-disciple Pehr Löfling and the national hero Francisco de Miranda, Venezuela. Stig Rydén also wrote an important contribution
about the New Sweden(?) collection at Skokloster Castle, Sweden, for the museum´s (former) international journal Ethnos. The rather few objects in the collection 1978.9 can nevertheless be said to mirror Stig Rydén´s broad interests in the " New World".
