Arkitektoniskt ornament.
Kallas Sendi. (Generalkatalogen)
"The most important sphere in which formal plastic art is applied is the ornamentation of architectural parts of tempels and residences. The sculptures remain for the most part within the bounds of Hindu religous concepts but sometimes also reveal Chinese influence, as in the use of winged lions. They are mainly to be found on the stone bases in which the supporting pillars of pavilions are embedded and on the wooden bases (sendi) at the bottom of pillars attached to the middle of a crossbeam of the roofing to support the ridgebeam above it. Demons' heads are often used on sendi, over doors and windows and also on musical instruments." (Ramseyer, Urs. 1977. s.69)
