Gösta Montell berättar: "I...made a short trip up to Mongolia together with a young Danish estate-owner of the name EDWARD TESDORPF. ...we set out three days before New Year´s Eve. The chauffeur was Chinese and we also had a Mongolian lama called CHAGDUR, LARSON´s faithful servant. ...we drove though the strange country north of Kalgan....
The following day...we....reached the little town of Chang-pei-hsien...
We had made up our minds to try to reach the Swedish mission station Khadain-sume (Hattin sum), which was the goal of our journey, the same evening...when the car suddenly stopped.....Fortunately there was a Mongol camp near by ...We were recieved with Mongolian hospitality and were soon able to wrap ourselves up in sheepskins on the floor of the small tent..The first thing we did the following morning was to examine the car. The chauffeur...said that he could not do anything... All we knew with certainty was that we could not stop here at Serin-gol,...
we decided to abandon the car and to proceed on foot on to the mission station. The car was to be pulled by oxen the whole way to Khadain-sume...We engaged a young Mongol as a guide....
Shortly before dusk we finally caught sight of the little Tibetan temple from which the mission station recieved its name....
Occasionally we made excursions in the neighbourhood in order to present our respects to different chiefs or to view articles which were offerd for sale. The neighbouring provincial temple Gushin-sume was well worth a visit...
On the evening of January 7th we were again in Peking...Our collection had been greatly enriched, chiefly by the acquisition of books, manuscripts, costumes, silver ornaments and Lamaistic cult objects." (Montell. 1945. s. 335-338)
