I am still a little confused.

- How has it been identified as originally belonging to the Hedin-collection? Do they have any documentation related to the purchase “50 years” ago saying so? Is there any SH-mark on it with a number? During my years in the museum, I was approached so many times by people claiming to possess objects originally belonging to Sven Hedin, but only in a few cases could that be certified.
- Which object given in Carlotta, do you claim it is? I have got the impression that you have found it there, or have I misunderstood you? I cannot idemntify it with any of the Vajradharas shown/listed there.
- Who is Gunnar, that you mention? I guess, Karl Gunnar Gardell? He is certainly to be trusted.

Hi Håkan,

How interesting, thank you for sharing the story of how the items ended up in different museums. It is fantastic to find out how the items has moved with exhibitions, and changed hands.

I think I took a screen shot at home with my iPad of the one I found in your system. Will check tonight. I am the specialist at Bukowskis in this segment and I have seen it, my colleagues at Bonhams London Asaph Hyman and Edward Wilkinsson have also seen it, we all agree on the age. So, we are not asking you to date it.

I felt that I want the museum to know since this was a discussion, it surfaced.

I guess it could have been Gunnar who recognized it, but I have not talked to him about this matter, this is an object consigned with us and there is client confidentiality.

So just informing the museum about to make sure that we do it the right way. This since the owner said that they had been in correspondence with the museum 10 yeas ago. I can ask them with whom. If they still have the letters. But if you are not missing it any longer, perhaps we just let it rest.

Cast seated cross-legged in dhyanasana on a high double-lotus pedestal, the deity cast with a serene facial expression beneath an elaborate five-leaf foliate tiara enclosing the high chignon, lavishly attired with dhoti and beaded jewellery inset with turquoise, the hands raised holding a vajra and a bell. Height 14,8 cm.

I just sent you and Michel a quick account of how a number of objects from the original Hedin/Bendix collection have been divorced from it.

Thanks for the photo. Can you also provide the size if the sculpture? I cannot make out that it is any of the Vajradhara objects that you can see among the objects shown via Carlotta. Can you tell me which one you believe it is!
