"Theater Albatross is a free group with the support of the state, region and municipality. We have our roots in the physical theater tradition (Jerzy Grotowski), but we have recently also begun to work with story-telling theatre. We have our base in Tokalynga Theater Academy, an old school on the southern countryside. There is also different courses at Tokalynga held frequently. Since the theatres’ inception in 1984, our focus for the most part been on the Holocaust. We still play two of these performances, ”The Orchestra”, abaout the Womens’ Orchestra at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and ”In the shadow of hatred grows flowers”, which is a strory-telling play of how to find love and friendship in a vicious world. Since 2000 we have also begun to work with Africa. The result has become a trilogy of permormences; ”Beyond the Sea” – about the plunder fishing in West Africa, ”Mary Kingsley” – about one groundbreaking explorer and finally ”Congo” – from the birth of man to Congo of today. Moreover, a performance named ”Nils Holgersson” are made for the youngest children." [Teater Albatross hemsida]
