Shard from a punchch'ǒng bowl with slip decoration. This shard, which includes a parts of the footrim, bottom area and walls, may have been part of a bowl, bottle or a jar. The foot is slightly flaring and the inner sides of the rim slope down to the base in a diagonal line. Notably, the wall undercuts the footrim, setting it off from the body. The surface of the base within the footrim is glazed and slightly raising to the center. The rim had been whiped free of glaze. No decoration can be seen on the outer walls, only traces of slip in one corner. The inner surface has probably a slip layer beneath the glaze. The glaze has a greenish-tinge and crackles. Darkish scars from misfiring can be seen on the inner side and the base. Due to the almost bisecting breakage line, the footrim and base can be seen in a clear cross section. Shards of this kinda, that are usually found at kiln sites and the surrounding areas are highly valuable for art historical and scientific research. Shards do not only reveal information about the production methods and type of material of the ceramics produced at specific kiln sites, they also serve as important indicators for tracing back ceramic objects to their sites of production, hence, helping to date and to understand socio-cultural contexts of ceramic objects.

Buncheong sherd coated with a layer of white slip (liquid clay) on one side. The surface is covered with a crackled, greenish-tinged glaze. Darker tones from misfiring can be seen on the edge of one side of the sherd. This sherd, which includes a section of a foot, may have been part of a bowl. This sherd is probably a kiln waster - a piece of ceramic that did not fire successfully. Sherds of this kind, which are usually found at kiln sites and the surrounding areas, are valuable for art historical and archaeological research. Sherds do not only reveal information about the production process, techniques and materials used and the types of ceramics produced at specific kiln sites, but they also serve as important indicators for tracing back ceramic objects to their sites of production. Hence, sherds help to date and to understand the historical, social and cultural contexts of ceramic objects.
