Byxa, Jacka, Jacka, Byxor

The trousers (Korean: baji), jacket (Korean: jeogori) and overcoat (Korean: durumagi) comprise the traditional man's dress that ordinary people wore in everyday life during the Joseon period and until the early 20th century. All pieces are typically made from undyed, white cotton. The color white was favoured by Koreans because it symbolized purity, simplicity and innocence, and was closely associated with the Confucian philosophy.
A) Trousers. These double-layered white cotton trousers have a large inner leg portion (Korean: sapok) and a waistband. These trousers would have been worn by a man and held at the waist with a belt.
B) Overcoat. This unlined overcoat (Korean: durumagi) is made from white cotton. The collar is bordered with the same white fabric and reinforced with an additional strip of white fabric (collar cover). A pair of strips attached at each end of the collar border on the inside and another pair of strips at the front serve as ties for fastening the coat above the chest. The edges of the sleeves and the bottom hem were turned and stitched. This coat would have been worn above a jacket (Korean: jeogori; refer to OM-1983-0002c).
C) Jacket. This jacket is double-layered and made from white cotton fabric. The collar has a lined border and is reinforced with an additional white fabric strip (collar cover). Two fabric ties are attached to the front for tying the jacket above the chest.

조선시대와 20세기 초까지 남성들이 일상생활에서 착용했던 한복 차림을 구성하는 바지, 저고리, 두루마기로 모두 흰색이다. 유교 철학과 관련하여 흰색은 청결과 검박함을 상징하여 선호했다.
흰색 무명으로 만든 겹바지로 폭이 넓다. 이러한 종류의 바지는 남성이 허리띠와 함께 착용했다.
흰색 무명으로 만든 홑두루마기이다. 깃에 같은 옷감으로 만든 동정 그리고 안고름과 겉고름 각 한 쌍을 달았다. 고름을 매어 두루마기의 여밈을 고정할 수 있도록 했다. 소매와 밑단을 안으로 접고 바느질하여 마감했다. 저고리 위에 입었을 것으로 짐작된다. (유물번호 OM-1983-0002c 참고).
흰색 무명으로 만든 겹저고리이다. 깃에 흰색 헝겊인 동정을 달았다. 겉고름 한 쌍을 앞쪽에 달아 가슴 위에서 저고리를 여밀 수 있도록 했다.
