0385 ROBERT SOMERVILLE 619 NORTH MICHIGAN AVENUE cHIcAGO 3eptember 7, 1948 Professor Bernhard Karlgren, The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm, Sweden, Dear Professor Karlgren; Vight I introduce myself es having met you at the Brundage$& when you were in Chicago a short time ago? I believe you might like to have the enclosed photo- graphs of some bronzes I recently acquired and which were excavated in the Anyang region about two years ago. The helmet really has to be seen to be appreciated. The color helps so much, The lines are tremendous in strength, we feel, and it has a weird whole. 3 3 The large TING and the little covered CHIH both have the same inseription, It is the same as appears on the Freer Gallery CHIA end is shown on påge 23 of their catalogue, The CHUEH...I should have mentioned there is a palr...nave a moet interesting inseription and TF ENER Will send you a rubbing of it when lir. Tung/Gomes back from vacation. The phoburaph unfortunately does not convey the grace and quality of these two. I trust I am not burdening you with useless material. It was such a pleasure to have heerd your views and comments on Ur, Brundage's pieces and to have had the honor of being present. th best wishes to you and Urs, Karlgren,1I am Yours sincerely,
