SS Deer Kerleren, I now return the proofs. 1 am sorry for the delay, which wes to a considerable extent due to the fact that Beck was awey foré a week or &0 after I sent the proofs to him. The plates ere excellent. I am keeping these, ag there are no corrections to be made < I wert a set for reference purposes. Never- the3leesg, if you went this particular lr beck again plesse let me know & you ehell heve them, but + shall esk you then tö eend me another set of pulls. There ie one mejor slteretion that I should like to make, namely the insertion of a Postscript. I need not explsin what this ie, you will eee whet + have written on the three sheets of yellow paper. Thie postscript should come after the peper, & before the Appendix (whieh I eseume in finsl form will be on a separate page) The speci- men slluded to must be a wonderful thing. 1 send you a rough treacing of the photograph, as 1 think it mey interest you if you have not yet seen Umeyheara's book. You bight let me leve this back. Sö I hope you will be able to let me have the finsl proof well before Christmas. I should like to get it back to you by the end of the year if this is possible, though we åo not sail until the end of Jenuary.
