En mycket betydelsefull samling (se även museets andra samlingar från främst Kalifornien, Sydväst, Nordvästkusten och de Aleutiska öarna) korgar från Nordamerika. Isynnerhet indianfolken i Kalifornien var/är kända för sina utsökta korgar men även indianfolken i sydvästområdet, på nordvästkusten samt på de aleutiska öarna var/är skickliga korgflärtare. Teknikerna utgörs bl.a. av "twining, coiling, plating och wicker" (engelska). Korgfläteri är ett av mänsklighetens äldsta avancerade tekniker/teknologi och har utvecklats parallellt med insamlingens betydelse bland jägare och samlare. Korgar och annat korgfläteri har blivit samlarobjekt. Litteraturen är mycket rikhaltig, se bl.a.: Thomas C. A very important collection (see also the museum´s other collections from primarily California and from the Southwest) of baskets, basketry, from North America. Particularly the Native American peoples of California were/are well known for their exquisite baskets but also the Native Americans of the Southwest, the Northwest Coast, and the Aleuts were/are also basketry experts. There are a number of different techniques; e.g. twining, coiling, plating and wicker. Basketry is one of mankind´s oldest advanced techniques, related to man as a hunter and particularly a gatherer. Native American baskets/baketry works/ have become collector´s items. The related litterature is very rich; see e.g. Thomas C.
