Kruka, Kärl, Globformad kruka på hög fot, Vessel, Pot, Jar

Det här kärlet har en vinklad mynning och skuldror som svänger ner mot den runda buken som sedan smalnar av in mot foten. I förhållande till kärlets storlek är ytan där kropp möter fot lite till sin omkrets. Den övre delen av den ihåliga, utsvängda foten är dekorerad med tre utskurna trianglar och den nedre delen har två upphöjda band som går horisontellt runtom. Kroppen är helt täckt av ett stråmattsmönster (dotjarimunii på koreanska). På den övre delen består mönstret av vertikala, korta streck och på den undre delen av streck i korsmönster. Mönstret har tillkommit genom att keramikern slagit med en repinslagen spade på lera för att forma den. Ett städ har troligen använts för att hålla emot väggen på insidan. Det finns inga spår av glasyr på väggarna och kärlet är blågrått.

Globformade krukor med hög utsvängd fot tillverkades på både i kungariket Silla och i Gayakonfederationen. De typiska utskurna trekantsmönstren tyder på att just detta kärl kommer från Gayakonfederationen. Det hade troligen en ceremoniell funktion som begravningskärl och kan ha innehållit mat till den avlidne.

This vessel has an angular lip. The shoulders slant down to a bulging belly and taper to the base. Considering the size of the vessel, the joint line between the body and the pedestal has a small circumference. The hollow, flaring pedestal is decorated in the upper section with three equidistant cut-out triangles and in the lower section with two raised bands. The surface of the body is entirely covered with a straw-mat pattern (Korean: dotjarimunii), vertical and parallel short lines in the upper section, and crisscrossed lines in the lower section. These marks originate from beating with a cord-wrapped paddle as a means to shape the vessel. An anvil would be used to support the walls from the inside. The surface has no traces of glaze and is of dark bluish-grey colour.

Globular jars mounted on high flaring pedestals were produced in the Silla kingdom as well as in the Gaya confederacy. From the characteristic triangular open-work decoration of the foot, it can be implied that this object was produced in the Gaya confederacy. It probably had a ceremonial function as funerary vessel and may have held food offering for the deceased.

이 항아리의 구연은 윗면이 사선으로 납작하며 각이 졌다. 어깨가 곡선을 그리며 내려와 불룩하게 부푼 배로 이어지는 몸체는 아랫부분에서 다시 좁아진다. 항아리의 크기를 고려할 때, 몸통과 굽다리가 연결되는 부분의 둘레가 작다. 밖으로 벌어진 굽다리는 속이 비어 있고 윗부분에는 동일한 간격으로 세 개의 삼각형을 뚫고 그 아래로는 두 줄의 돋을띠(突帶)를 돌렸다. 몸통의 표면은 돗자리 무늬가 가득 채우고 있는데, 윗부분에서는 수직으로 평행하게, 아랫부분에서는 교차하는 모양으로 나타난다. 이 자국은 성형을 위해 겉면에 실을 감은 나무판으로 기면(器面)을 두드려 생긴 것이며, 이 때 내박자로 항아리 안쪽에서 벽을 지지한 것으로 보인다. 유약의 흔적이 없는 표면은 어두운 회청색을 띤다.

나팔 모양으로 벌어진 높은 굽다리 위에 올려진 구형(球形)의 항아리는 신라와 가야에서 제작되었다. 특징적인 삼각형 굽구멍은 이 항아리가 가야에서 제작된 것임을 시사한다. 망자에게 바칠 음식물을 담는 용기로서 의례적인 용도를 지녔을 것으로 추정된다.
