The diadem consists of a thin band of sheet gold, slighly tapering towards the rounded ends and with a rounded peak in the centre. The end on the right is pierced with two holes for attachment; on the end on the left, there is a loop consisting of gold wire with spirl ends, fastened at the back of the sheet through the two holes. The decoration is embossed on the gold foil, probably by hammering the metal into one or several stone dies, into which the patterns have been carved. The centre shows the god Dionysus ridning a panther. His right hand holds a thyrsos, his left- behind the neck of the animal- a kantharos. Both figures are represented in a full plastic style. On his head, Dionysos wears a wreath. His clothes are a chiton, onto it a belted ependytes and a himation. The whole picture is framed by foliage. To the right and left from this centre, there are on each side four dancing maenads and satyrs, separated from each other and the middle by censers on high tripods. Left side from centre to end: Dancing maenad, head en face, with swirling clothes, a thyros in the right, a head of a deer in the left hand. Naked satyr, turned to the centre, but looking back, left arm raised; the gold foil is torn at his head; a thyros behind his right leg.Dancing maenad, head en face, withh swirling clothes, a thyrsos in the right, a kantharos in the left hand. Satyr, head en face, with himation, turned to the centre, left arm raised. Right side, central to end: dancing maenad, head en face, with swirling clothes, head of an antelope in the right, thyrsos in the left hand. Satyr with himation, turned to the centre, but looking back, right arm raised, a torch behind the left leg. Dancing maenad, head en face, with swirling clothes, a torch in the left hand. Satyr, head en face, with himation, turned to the centre, right arm raised.

The diadem might have been mounted on another material and worn in life as a frontlet. Perhaps it was only funeral. Motifs from the myth of Dionysos often occur, as he was a god of resurrection. Embossed diadems are extant from the late 5th century to hellenistic times.
