Today, the place is called Deir el-Medina and the ruins of the villagers’ homes, tombs and shrines can still be seen here. Archaeologists have found thousands of texts in and around the village, most of which are receipts, reports, letters and poetry written on small pieces of stones. Platsen kallas idag Deir el-Medina och där finns ruinerna av bybornas hus, gravar och helgedomar. I och omkring byn har arkeologer hittat tusentals texter, de flesta skrivna på stenflisor, som omfattar allt från kvitton och rapporter till brev och poesi.
