0024 Amoy Canning Corporation Kowloon, Hong Kong Sept. 7, 1949 Professor EB, Karlgren Östasiatiska Samlingarna Storgatan l,1, Stockholm Dear Professor Karlgren, I am 80 glad to have your letter of Avpust 12th and to learn tnat 18 volumes of your good Bulletin are on their way to Hong Kong, Many thanks. It took me quite a while to locate a Bronze that was close to the amount I owe you. At last I bought & Chueh of the Shang period which has beautiful patina I arid an inscription in relief, The letter is most unusual j in bronze, I have no reference to check up the inscriptfon and I would like very much if you can tell me what it is, The price is HKI5lO, which is equåvalent to US90.00 at the market rate, Swedish crown sells at $1.15 ån the market > so the price is lö9 erowns. Since I om you Crowns368 .l,0 I have still Crowl00 credit with you, WHay I trouble you to buy me the arehaeological publications issued by the Ethnological Museum, espeically Bergmann!s Archaeological Research in Sinkiang. I would like also to havethe satalorue o Pom Prince's Bronze Mirrors, which I understand has been in the press and ought to be out of it by now. (I have put the chueh in the mafl yesterday). I have come across a collection of very good bronzes offered for sale here. I recégnize that at least two pieces have appeared in the Ch!eng ch!iu kuan Catalogue BAR so they were oriscinally in the collection of SE FRE SR nen ER . The prices quoted are very reasonable, so I have asked the owner to give me a set of photographs and rubbings of the inscriptions to send you as you are interested to enrich your collection. I recom- mend especially Nos. 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 1lj, and 17. The last one is the most unusual as the postsfcome together under one final and the cross-section of the body is oval or leaf-shaped instead of round. According to the omer, the prices arehis bottom prices as they are wholesale prices for dealers, I shall be most plessed to help you secure the eollection if you are interested and if the owner does not dispose them before your reply comes back, With best regards Sincerely äga a
