Doar Dr, indersson, Thenk you very muck for your letter of June 25th and the enclosures. fith regard to Lowe”s paper and the estimates, after con. =E sultation with Dr. V.K. Ting I agree with the opinion of the comalt tee, | enå so I wlisk you will have Bortzell undertake the work, their figure belng 2,193:30 Swed. Er. Owing to the depreciation of silver, we are now in e& very diffleult , position in meeting our printing expenses. Ve shall pey from this years budget over $ 800 gold to är, bCagrelius for Zdensky”s memolr on sarly Jortiary fööniin. Ås has been communicated te you by Dr. V.X., Ting, ve like to reserve end can only spare Å 5000 silver a year fer the printing of the palseontologienl or obegr NR papers by our Swedish friends, Owirg to tbe accumulated debt to Lagrelius of 3 £00 god our budget is tkerefore particularly heavy this year. However, I shall do my best 10 pay any other paper the committee in Stockholm shall deslde to print. in Sweden within the stated amount be. ägd the olå 2 200 fat including Lowe”s paper. That means ve undertake pan on Fig a to £ 9000 silver for the Swedish contributions in the Palaeon- Sinlic&. I think thls 1s ell we cen åc for the present year. | a The pelaceontologicel EV in China has flourished almost out of cur expectsattons, gr beg to the good foundetions latd by our Swedish frienås. At are not lösa then seven monographs waiting for publication fn fäster. besides tbose on Choukoutien Gepo. & sits to be printed ra & peb | fund, 50 we have our hands full and are at a loss kow to get soon og fund. £s8 you must well know, we sincerely telcome ihe publication of the papers contritvuted ty our Swedish frienås in our series, and In allotting the fund for printing, we have done and skell do our very best to have them published early on the sole consideration of thelr sclentific Interest. fet given tre limited fund avallsable end the pressing need of publicetions, I wonder, since the Crown Prince and other friends in Sweden have done so muckråp promoting this branch of atuéy, whether they might not be able to renser tkelr good offices agzeln In Å patgvtmng some addäitionsl financial ssesistance for the Palaeontologla Sinlica from xertein quarters in Sweden or elsowhere. ås the cost for prakting 1s so high and the need is so urgent, such help, if fortbeoming, will indeed be greatly epprecisted. Any such adöoitionel fund 1f avallable will be of course entirely reserved for the PAREN in Sweden. Tis 1s of course a personal wish tentatively suggested to you as an olå friend.
