Cleaning and conservation report. D-nr 16455013. 950108. Condition: slightly dirty with soil, but appears to have been mechanically cleaned before (surface is rubbed, slightly scratched). Corrosion on surface is in thin, even layer of the medium dark green color. Corrosion products are grainy, hard. There are small warts and bumps of bronze disease - powdery light green corrosion on top and hard, grey waxy substance, and brown copper oxides underneath. Object. has been drilled to take sample for metallographic analysis. Treatment. See MM Lur 2: cleaned mechanically with scalpel, small soft rotating bristle and steel brushes, under magnification. Active corrosion spots partially excavated to original surface layer, stabilised in 3 % benzotriazole solution in ethanol for 48 hours. Rinsed in 95 % ethanol, dried. Protective coating of 10 % Paraloid B 72 applied.
