Cast. Cylindrical shaft with four straight ribs at back terminating in four long conical points (spikes) and joined by vertical ridge near butt. Upper and lower ribs form the top and bottom quadruple ridged collars of the shaft and extend to upper and lower edge of blade as reinforcement. The two central ribs extend as ridges on shaft and onto blade neck. Upper and lower edges strengthened by thickening ridge. Upper edge slopes downwards and lower curves sharply round to form broad, very slightly convex cutting edge.

Cleaning and conservation report. D-nr 16455013, 950108. General condition and corrosion: entire surface covered with extremely hard, cement-like calcareous deposits. Underneath, the surface is unevenly covered with thin layers of both medium dark green and brown corrosion products. No obvious active corrosion. Object has been drilled to take sample for metallographic analysis. Treatment: cleaned mechanically with scalpel, small soft rotating bristle and steel brushes, under magnification. Lightly waxed with bee's wax using small soft rotating bristle brush.
