09, May the 1lth 1929. R, LÅ, Hobson Esq. Keeper of the Department of Ceramics and Ethnography British Museum London. Dear Mr. Hobson, I have to thank you most sincerely for your kind letter of April 30th with your statement about the "Wei" horses, I made the same inquiries with Mr, Eumorfopoulos and with Mr. Loo and vou have all answered in the same spirit seying that you saw nothing positively wrong witn the horses but without committing yourself as to their authenticity. Ny heartfelt thanks for your kind help in this matter. I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to accept your very kind invitation to join your Far Eastern Party. I have to complete the two monographs on the neolithic mortuary urns and the one on the Suiyuean bronzes and I now realize that there is no chance to have that work completed before the end of this year. It is really a great pityjand I have to content myself with sending you my very best wishes for an intirely successful expedition. With kindest regards, Yours very truly
