Oval ring with a reddish-brown cornelian in a modern gold setting. The stone is convex and is engraved as an intaglio of the head of a man in front view. The setting and the ring itself is gold. The design is modern (probably from the 17th or 18th century AD.). There are no inscriptions on either the stone or the ring. The engraving shows a bald man with a full, curly beard and bushy, drooping moustache. The hair appears full, but not too long, and is stylistically combed and curled over the forehead. A mantle is shown draped around his neck. It has been suggested that the engravning portrays Socrates.

-Hand worked, with file and thin cutting edge tool, polished, expert workmanship. -The setting and the ring itself is modern, the cornelian date from the fourth century BC. -The engravning bears a remarkable close resemblance to a Type A bust of Socrates in the Berlin Museum, and to a Type A bust of Socrates in the National Museum in Naples.
