Dear Pr. jong:= I wish to thank you most heartily:for your:great kindnese in sparing me during this very baey time that half-hour for the interview in the. Execative Yuan. - Out talk was of greatest importance to me as I äid not unéerstand fally the conditions in Chengtu. Especially it was important for me to understand that there are two univer- eities.and-that Dr..Graham is connectei with what I unäerstand to be a missionary institution. I wish to sum up in writing the instructicns yoa have kindly given to me. I will try to make a trip in Szechuan principally. for. seeing that provineecfrom a general geographical point of view and specially in order to correlate the physiogra- phio features of the Northern provinces with the physiography of Szechuan. If, in the ccurse of my travelling, I see any prehis- toric sites, I will make sketches and sections in order to re- port to you as fully as possible. I will unierteke no excava- tions but take care of such epecimens as are directly visible on the surface and hand same to the president of the National Uni- versity, Dr. Teun(?). For the rest I will study all material geologically and archaeologically in the museums of Chengtu and make with the aid of Miss Dorf, ac far as possible, good draw- ings and photographs of more important specimens. E I thank yoa moet sincerely for your kind promise to give me letters of introductions to the Governor and to the president of the National University. I would be delighted if you, during yoar stay in Barcpe eould pay a visit to Sweden. If this 18 possible, please communicate with Professor Bernhard = Kerlgren, University Gotemberg, who will certainly meet you in Stockholm and arrange everything for you.
