Enligt Östasiatiska museet och föreningen Östasiatiska museets vänner 1987-1988: “Okänd konstnär, ‘Hundra lekande barn’ (baekjado). Två monterade skärmmålningar. Tusch och klara färger på papper. Choson, sannolikt 1800-tal. Inköp.” Hör ihop med ID-nr 104496. Från målerimagasinet.

OBS! Vid tillfället för inventeringen fanns föremålsmärkningen “ÖM 1988-87a” på denna målning. Med största sannolikhet är detta en felmärkning och föremål ska istället heta ÖM 1987-0078 A.

Painted in ink and colours on paper, this painting shows twenty-two children gathered in small groups of three or four in an imaginary landscape or garden setting. The children are dressed in Chinese-style attire in bright colours and have their hair tied up in a single or double bun on top of the head in the Chinese fashion. Two children at the centre are wrestling, while others are preparing for another game or climb a nearby willow tree. One group observing the activities is taking care of an obviously younger boy sitting with them. The surroundings are rendered in monochrome, except for a blossoming fruit tree and a stylised scholar’s rock (Korean: taehoseok) which were highlighted with colour.

종이에 먹과 채색을 사용하여 이상적인 풍경 혹은 정원에서 스물두 명의 아이들이 서너 명씩 짝을 지어 노는 모습을 그렸다. 아이들은 중국풍의 밝은 색 옷을 입고 중국식의 하나로 묶어 올린 머리나 쌍계(雙髻)머리를 하고 있다. 화면 중앙에 두 아이들은 씨름을 하고 있고 나머지 아이들은 또다른 놀이를 준비하거나 근처에 있는 버드나무에 오르고 있다. 다른 아이들이 노는 것을 지켜보는 한 무리는 함께 앉아 있는 훨씬 더 어린 아이를 돌보고 있다. 꽃이 만개한 과일나무와 도식화된 태호석(太湖石)은 채색하여 강조였으나 그 나머지 배경은 먹만을 사용해 단조롭게 처리하였다.
