This palette shows the oldest known depiction of a hippopotamus hunt. A man, probably a ruler, is standing in a boat having hit a hippopotamus with a harpoon. To
the left are a hyena and a gazelle and to the far left is
an additional hippopotamus. Depictions of wild game hunt were primarily meant to symbolise power and the dominion over wild forces and chaos. Game meat constituted only a small part of the diet.

På denna palett finns världens äldsta kända avbildning av en flodhästjakt. Bilden visar en man, troligen en härskare, i en båt. Han har träffat en flodhäst med en
harpun. Till vänster finns en hyena och en gasell, och allra längst till vänster ytterligare en flodhäst. Avbildningar av jakt på vilda djur symboliserade makt över det vilda och kaotiska. Kött av vilda djur utgjorde endast en mycket liten del av födan.
