Everted rim; slightly flaring neck; ovoid body; horizontal, rounded handles at neck; conical foot with torus base. Reddish brown to yellowish red clay; pinkish yellow slip; lustrous, brown to black paint, partly misfired to red; added white. Brown band on inside of neck; on rim top four groups of four bars each; one broad, brown band on outside of rim/neck top and one at base of neck/shoulder; on neck a band of zigzag lines alternating with vertical lines, framed by bands; below this a broad band of vertical, wavy lines, framed by bands; on shoulder a metope frieze, delimited by groups of parallel, vertical lines; a grazing deer stag with long neck and legs in the large metope on side A; the deer’s head, right foreleg, belly, tail and hind legs are drawn in outline and filled with brown dots; the rest of the body is brown with white dots; three concentric circles with a central dot in each of the two smaller metopes on side B; brown arcs in the two handle metopes; outside of handles brown; fourteen bands encircle the belly beneath the metope frieze; remaining part of body and upper part of foot brown, except for a reserved band at lower body; reserved area on lower part of foot with alternating straight and wavy, horizontal lines.
