Photo exhibition – Osvald Sirén Osvald Sirén was a Finnish born, Swedish photographer and art historian who travelled to China several times in the early 1920s and 30s. His unique photos give us an opportunity to experience Beijing one hundred years ago. Curator Si Han will select 15 photos from the Osvald Sirén-collection at the Swedish Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm on the theme “Beijing on Water”. The first part of the exhibition will open at IKEA:s Livat Centre on 9 May (TBC) and last until the beginning of June. The second part will take place along the Liangma River in September (TBC). The Embassy will organise a seminar in the residence in connection to the inauguration along the river, with participants from Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities and other partners. For the second part we hope to add 15 newly taken photos from the same locations in Beijing. The exhibition is a part of the commemoration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Sweden and People’s Republic of China (PRC). Embassy working group: Camilla Bjelkås, Veronika Kramar Mandelj, Lin Cui. Curator: Si Han, Museum of Far Eastern Antiques Project manager: Jasmine Wang Venues: IKEA:s Livat Centre, Liangma River Partners: The National Museums of World Culture (Stockholm), White Peak, IKEA, Hasselblad (TBC)
