The ear-ring was permanently fastened to the ear by means of a curved pin, which is sheated in a gold tube and bent into a ring at either end. These rings engage between the loops at the ends of the hoop and are fastened to them, at one end by by the insertion of a small cylinder, the ends of which are hammered out, and at the other end by means of a small ribbon bent M-fashion, the ends of which were turned apart after insertion.
