Gåva av Kung Gustaf VI Adolf (1882 – 1973).
Enligt äldre kataloguppgifter hittades det här föremålet nära Gyongju, första huvudstad i kungadömet Silla (57 f kr - 935 e kr) och är en gåva av Kronprinsparet tänkt att ingå i Östasiatiska museets samlingar.

Föremålet troligen insamlad av Kung Gustaf VI Adolf (1882-1973), vid tiden Kronprins, och Drottning Louise (1889-1965) vid tiden Kronprinsessa, under deras resa i Korea i oktober 1926. Det kungliga paret besökte Gyongju där kronprinsen, som var mycket intresserad av koreansk konst och arkeologi, fick möjlighet att vara med vid utgrävningen av en kunglig grav från Silla från 400-talet. Graven kallas Den lyckobringande Fenix grav (Seobongchong på koreanska) och besöket ägde rum den 10 oktober 1926. En gyllene krona med utsmyckningar i form av fenixfåglar grävdes fram (Skatt nr. 339, finns nu på Koreas nationalmuseum. Bongwan-014319-00000) och kronprinsen fick en dyrbar guldring i minnesgåva (Accessionnummer K-04026-001). Tecknet "seo" i gravens namn betyder "lyckobringande" och lånades från första tecknet i det koreanska namnet för Sverige "seojeon". Idag finns det en minnessten vid platsen för utgrävningarna som berättar om det kungliga besöket och kronprinsens aktiva deltagande i arbetet. Ett träd som kronprinsen planterade finns också kvar. Detta koreabesök av den sedermera svenska kungen ses som en viktigt händelse för de svensk-koreanska relationerna.

The old catalogue records state that this artefact was donated by the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess for inclusion in the collection of the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities (“Objects from Korea handed over to the East Asian Collections (Östasiatiska Samlingarna) by Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess.").

This object was probably acquired by King Gustaf VI Adolf (1882 – 1973), then Crown Prince, and Queen Louise (1889 – 1965), then Crown Princess, during their journey to Korea in October 1926. The royal couple visited Gyeongju where the Crown Prince, who had a keen interest in Korean art and archaeology, had the opportunity to participate in the excavation of a royal Silla tomb of the 5th century - The Auspicious Phoenix Tomb (Korean: Seobongchong) - on 10th October 1926. A golden crown with phoenix ornaments (Treasure No. 339, now held in the National Museum of Korea; Bongwan-014319-00000) was unearthed and the Crown Prince received a precious gold earring as a commemorative gift. In addition, the character "seo" in the tomb's name, which means "auspicious", was borrowed from the first character of the Korean name for Sweden, “seojeon.” Today, an engraved stone stele in memory of the royal visit and the Crown Prince’s participation in the excavation as well as a tree planted by the Crown Prince can still be seen at the site. This visit of the later King of Sweden to Korea is considered an important event in Korean-Swedish relations.

구스타브 아돌프 6세 전 스웨덴 국왕 (1882 – 1973) 기증.
소장 기록에 따르면 이 유물은 왕세자와 왕세자비 부부가 스웨덴 동아시아박물관 컬렉션에 기증한 것이다 (“왕세자와 왕세자비 폐하께서는 한국에서 유래한 이 유물을 동아시아박물관에 기증했다.” ).

스웨덴 구스타브 왕세자 (Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf; 이후 국왕 구스타브 아돌프 6세; 1882 – 1973)와 루이즈 왕세자비 (Crown Princess Louise; 1889 – 1965)가 1926년 10월에 한국 방문 당시 이 유물을 수집한 것으로 추정된다. 구스타브 왕세자는 한국 미술과 고고학에 깊은 관심을 가졌으며, 왕세자 부부가 경주를 방문한 당시 같은 해 10월 10일에 5세기의 신라 고분인 서봉총 발굴작업에 참여했다. 주요 발굴 유물 중에는 봉황 장식의 금관 (보물 제339호, 현 국립중앙박물관 소장; 본관-014319-00000)이 있으며, 왕세자는 귀중한 삼국시대 금 귀걸이를 기념선물로 받았다. 또한, 서봉총은 스웨덴의 한자 명칭인 서전 (瑞典)에서 “서瑞” 자를 빌려서 붙인 이름으로, 현재 고분 근처에서 왕세자의 방문과 발굴참여가 기록된 기념비 및 왕세자가 심은 소나무를 찾아 볼 수 있다. 이후 스웨덴의 국왕이 된 왕세자의 한국 방문은 양국 간 교류의 중요한 사건으로 평가되고 있다.
