Hermpilaster

Pilaster föreställande en magerlagd herm med stora mustascher och långt svallande hår. Ansiktet har ett bekymrat och oroligt uttryck. Kring halsen ringlar sig en orm. Ormen hålls fast av mannen med bägge händerna. Ormens huvud skymtar vid mannens vänstra höft. Hermen är framställd som en friskulptur från låren och uppåt. Dess nederdel upptas av en stor och fantastiskt formad maskaron med bred, platt näsa och väldig mun ur vilken en stor, köttig tunga hänger.

Skulpturens sockel är bukig och prydd av ett stort bladornament. Nedtill har den en profilerad och något snedställd vulst. Själva hermen står inte mitt på den "platta" som bildar gräns mellan figuren och sockeln utan är placerad på bakre halvan av densamma. Skulpturens baksida uppvisar två stora urtag på ömse sidor av mitten, snedställda i vertikalplanet. Alldeles ovanför sockeln finns ett litet och grundare urtag. Utmed figurens bakparti är övre delen av den konstruktiva baksidan uppdragen i ett rektangulärt stycke.

Skulpturen är välbevarad.

Text in English: Pilaster with lean herm with large moustache and long, flowing hair. The face has a worried expression. A snake encircles the herm''s neck and is held by the herm with both hands, the head of the snake rests at the man''s left hip. The herm is carved as a free sculpture from the hips up. The lower section consists of a large bizarre mask with broad flat nose and huge mouth, from which a large fleshy tongue hangs.

The base of the sculpture curves outwards elegantly and is decorated with large leafy ornamentation and profiled at the bottom with an angled torus. The herm stands on the rear half of the foot-plate which forms the border between the sculpture and the base of the pilaster. The rear side of the sculpture shows two large grooves on either side of the middle, angled slightly in a vertical plane. There is a small shallow groove just above the base. At the back of the figure on the structural part of the pilaster there is a rectangular section.

The sculpture is very well preserved.
