Necklace
In 2001 a young woman was sold for the value of this silver necklace. The
woman was transported to Southern Italy, where she was suppose to work as a
prostitute. But once she and the traffickers reach the Italian coast they
got captured by a police patrol. The traffickers were arrested, and the
woman was helped by the Regina Pacis organisation.
Sales photo of a Moldavian woman
A trafficker took photos of a number of Moldovan women who he wanted to
sell. He brought these photos to potential buyers in Italy. Once a
buyer/pimp has chosen one of the women from the batch of photos and the
deal has been done, the task of transporting the women begins. It is
impossible to know what the woman in this photo was thinking of when the
photo was taken; perhaps she still believes she will be getting a good job
in a restaurant, or perhaps she has already been captured and is being
forced to smile.
Notepad
In this notepad a young Moldovan woman on a journey to Italy wrote down
about 500 Italian and English words. At first the list contains common
words. Towards the end of the notepad the terms change, and it becomes
obvious that this is a sexual transaction.
