You will find hereby enclosed rapid sketches of these specimens in order to facilitate their identification. Herewith we most respectfully appeal to you for the very great favour of being allowed to exhibit these lj2 specimens in our temporary exhibition of Ordos-bronzes. AR It should be kept in mind that I know your collection only as it was in the beginning of 1929. Certainly you have acquired many wonder. ful and eventually unique specimens, which would form a most desir€ 'le addition to our exhibition. May I then ask you the further great favour of sending us photographs of such animal-style pieces acquired during recent years, which you consider as novel types or otherwise important. I sincerely hope that you agree with me about the desire- ability of having your large collection as fully as possible represented ån our exhibition. May I also take this occasion to tell you a little about our exhibition of Chinese bronzes, which is arranged by H. R. H. the Crrwn- Prince personally. The exhibition is not extensive, occupying only the two southern rooms of our museum, but I know that you when inspec- ting 1t will join our opinion that the spenknige are of high qualit, and the ökrenological arranging marking lbnsiaeradie selentific progress. The exhibited objects are fpst ot them belonging to this museum. Many other specimens have been borrowed from the Crown-prince, from Mr. Hellström and other Swedish collectors. In addition we have borrow- ed a small number of important specimens from Kunstindustrimuseum in Copenhagen, an institution with which we have very pleasant and frult- ful cooperation,

Until the last few days our plans have been somewhat unsettled, but now I am in the position to make you a definite proposal. Our exhibiti of Ordos-bronzes is systematically arranged and consequently it has bee necessary to combine material from many different sources. The vast majority of objects belong to this museum, 789 Pleces out of a total of 875. i The 86 specimens which are to be bg Sod rrowed from abroad will be distributed over fbe 21 cases, but each RR specimen carrys the name of the owner. We have already been promised very important contributions from foreign friends, so for instance Ton Ying is sending a man here with a wonderful set of eight pleces and Nr. Eumorfopoulos is going to have photographs made of all his Ordos-specimens, offering to lend us the specimens we like to have. Together with our own material, your wonderful collection is the aggregate of Ordos bronzes. Our principle in arranging this exhi- bition is to borrow from abroad only such types, which are not well

Considering our intimate friendly relations as well as the dominant position of your firm I will make 1t my duty to give you this information already at this early stage. Very likely you have acquired since I visited Paris last time many Chinese bronzes of highest impor- tance. Could you very kindly send me photogsaphs ofssuch specimens /vessels, arms, mirrors, buckles ets./ as you lprllaer important for our exhibition, Your specimens are wellcome here in the mlidst of Aug. as it will take some time for the final arrangement of the exhibition I hope you will come personål: y with the specimens as it would be invaluable for us to discuss SÄCR ös all the exhibited material.
