Dear Professor Anderson, I have received your kind letter of June the 2nd with three photos of different bronzes that you wish to know their provenance, From what I can see none of them has been handed by us, Evidently those photos being sent to you by some other owner, Referring to your previous letter regarding to the photo of "le Duel" of Rosa Bonheur, I have tried with several friends and from their advise we have searched at three or four photographs dealers as Braun, Giraudon, none of those specialists have any photo or knowledge where this picture has gone. My friend, Jean Guiffrey of the Louvre thought that "le Duel" was sold to a private collector in South of America but he does not know the name, Then we have been to the Bibliothågue Nationale and examine through all the registers of her works, there are about 400 pictures regis- tered but with regard to "le Duel" there was only one study of this picture being sold at the Gallery Georges Petit at her death on I900, but not the picture itself and even this little study of Rosa Bonheur we could not traced the actual owner, I am so sorry that I have not been able to give oo you more information but I will try to ask some other dealers who might know something about this picture and if I do hear something new I will let you know, | I am returning you the three photos and will hope to be able to give you more news about Rosa Bonheur, Yours very sincerely, 3 phe enc. 2 lys”
