Dear Dr. Andersson:- I read with much pleasure your letters of Nov. 21, Dec. l2th together with the copies of your letters to Dr. Ting, at my return from Szechuan., I am thankful to you and Dr. Ting both to have found way out of the difficulties with the ene spirit of friendship has been characteristic of our coopera-= tion before, I have now received notice from Ekman agencies Au the consignment of 22 cases of ceramics are already arrived in Shanghai. But so far, I am sorry to say that no bill of lading has been received from you, nor the number of boxes has been known : to us early enough in order to get exemption of import duties., We are trying our best to take delivery this time. But meantime I beg you to find out the bill of lading and mail to us, and for the consignment V, IV and the following always FE föra the bill of lading and let us know the number of boxes and their content so that we can arrange with the customs in time. I already ask Mr. md to deliver Zdansky's printed paper to the Survey and I will start the payment immediately.

For the other publications I really like to have you or Prof. Wiman make a definite budget of publications for a year at least so that I may know our exact financial res- ponsibility and find means to meet it. At the exchange rate prevailing at present, I can not find any justification to still print in Sweden at the rate with which Mr. Lagrelius charged us. What would you say if you were my superior in the ministry when I pay out of the official budget to print at extraordinary cost in Sweden when we know that there are other means much cheaper and just as well? I think Dr. Ting has written you the price of printing heliotype plates in London. May I hope that you will give this matter your careful thought and make any practical suggestion for me. I do appreciate the scientifie work which is being done and am ready to do my best for the printing, but you will well under- standisg that it is not possible for me to pay Mr. Lagrelius as he has paid out of the Swedish fund. I have once sent to Prof. Wiman a list of vertebrate fossils showing RR been already sent us as duplicate, out of those already described materials in the hope that he will see by himself that the material fetursed hers can scarcely be called "representative set divided in a generous spirit".
