06 33. PROFESSOR J,. &G. ANDERSSON LÅNGÄNGEN STOCKSUND July 3, 1930 Dr. Wong Wen Hao, The Director of the Rational Geological Survey of China, Peiping. Dear Doctor Wong, Vr Lagerberg, The Head of our Legation in Peking, has kindly sent me a copy of your letter to him dated May 14 with reference to return consixmgnments of archaeological collections. I very fully realize the serious difficulty which you must have experienced because of the slow progress in the fulfilment of my obligations. On the other hand I hope that you will understand the reasons for this delay. Not being a professionaly trained archeeologist, I had during my first years in Sweden first to collect a research library and then to begin studying. Furthermore the restoration of the funeral urns has proved a much more difficult and tedious undertaking than we originaly expected. Upon the kind suggestion of Mr. Lagerberg I will write you in some detail on this point, including photographs to illustrate the different stages of the restoration work. I sincerely hope that our third consignment has safely reached you and that the contents were unbroken. We are now preparing the fourth consignment, which will be sent from here in a very short time and will condist of tne following materials: 1: Funeral urns of the fourth period (Hsin Tien). 2: Painted pot sherds from Yang Shao Tsun. 3: ÅA large number of stone implé&ements from various localities.
