Dear Dr. Andersson:- Re your letter of Dec, 7th, I think your condition No. 2 will have no appeal to the Chinese Government; that is to say that the financial people will not mind whether you claim the pension for your personal use or the printing of this or that so far as they have to pay. Personally I would think that it is practically more advantageous to sacrifice your pension if you can get your salary arrears paid cash on that condition as suggested by Baron Lal joukefval and Mr. bakis LÅ remember that the question of cutting clear the pension has been already several times raized by the past Ministries. Of course we fully appreciate your idea of using the money for printing the archeological publication in the Palaeontologia Sinica Series. But that is only the tiew point of the Geological Survey. The Ministry of Finance will not understand the scientific interest and will think the.payment the more ungecessary, The above point of view is appreciable not only to the pension but also to the main salary. People will highly appreciate your disinterented 'help to the Survey's publication when they shall know that
