Dear Dr. Andersson:- I have your letter of 3rd February and have talked over successively with Dr. Ting who is in Peiping and Baron Leijonhufund. They both agree with me as I has explained the matter in my previous letter. And the baron further believes that there is absolutely no question of the pension which will be left aside; it can be only hoped that the Nanking Government will pay & certain percent of the back salary of all the advisers (say 404) and that once for all. Waethor you renonce or not your pension will make no difference, Certainly your surrender of your pension to the Palaeontologia Fund will not be a reason for having if paia to you. Certainly your old salary agreement including the Pal. Sinica Fund has nothing unpresentable to the Government. But the situation is this: the government will pay certain portion of the back salary of foreign advisers on technical matters (not certainly political and military advisers) say 404. If they count your whole salary, you will get say—Tgg . If they take account of your surrender of åa to the publication fund you will probably Betyfoka- = 207 4! But in order not to have the suspicion of having the desire to hide any thing from any body I told Baron Leijonhufund to present every thing francly according to your desire.
