SE would naturally be much more pleasant for me to present my interpretation of the pre-history of China to the Society of Antiquaries in a more definite and concise manner than is » possible at present. May I be allowed to mention that the University of London has invited me to deliver a lecture on this subject, and I am now writing them and asking for a similar postponement until the winter of 1928 to 1929, I am also writing to the Swedish Legation in London to ask our Minister to negotiate with you and with the Uni- versity of London to ascertain whether the desired postpone- ment is possible or not. I would like to repeat thet I am extremely anxious to take advantage of the two invitations from your city and to combine tnem under the same date, Consequently, I am prepared to go to London this winter if it is considered absolutely necessary. However, I feel fully convinced that amyear later, when the material has fully studied, I will be able to give a much better representation of my arecheological work in Ohina. Meanwhile I am quite willing to promise that I will, before my lectures in London, give no other lectures on my archeologicel work outside Sacndinavia., Most respectfully yours,

I have just returned from my sojourn in Italy and have only during the last few days been able to attend to my office duties and to my correspondenece , May I ask you to kindly present my respectful thanks to tne Society of Antiquaries of London for the great honour they have bestowed upon me in asking me to read a paper on my areceheological work in China. It would give me great pleasure to avail myself of your offer, however I wish to respectfully inquire whether these lectures might not be postponed until the winter 2928 to 1929 for the reasons as explained below: First, we are now working very earnestly to prepare our new museum, Ostasiatiska Samlingarna /the East Asiatic Collec- tions/ for the opening which will take place on the 15th of January 1928, Second, and this is the most serious reason for re- questing a postponement, we are now preparing the definite mono- graphs on the Prehistoric Sites of China, New developments and considerable revision of my earlier views are in sight and it
