Dear Sirs, I have to acknowledge with thanks your kindinote of yesterday. I am very pleased to learn that you are willing to publish a British /and eventually an American ?/ edition of the second part of my book The renaissance of China and the war with Japan. /A definite title to bee discussed later./ I quite accept your arrangement to have the translation made by one of your men in London. Please only allow me to get proofs to veg revised by me. I feel that I have sufficient command of the English language to help in expressing my own ideas adequately. I will return these proofs very quickly. The terms suggested by you are accepted, also for the reason that my main interest is to get an English edition out as quickly as possible. However, with reference to the terms I would make an editional suggestion. There is some possibility that I could getifor instance the Chinese ambassador in Wadhington who 1s a friend of mine to contract some hundred copies for free distribution to influental political people in U. 8. A. I feel that such a free distribution would hardly interfere with the public sale of the book. If distribution conditions in England are anything like here in Sweden you may have to give some 4548 to book-
