Eumorfopoulos has recently bought a magnifi- cent glags vessel of whet il suppose may be regerded as Sung date. lt would meke a fine plate, < is £o far ac 1 know a unigue specimen. 1l9th June 1937 Court Leys, Toot Baldon, Oxford. Dear Professor Zarlgren, I heve just received from Beck the proofs you sent,With your letter of June llth. I do not know whether he has written to you. AHe is in a difficult position just now- his wife is in hospital, having hed a fairly serious operetion, < he himself ie far fror well € £s shortly to be sent off to a French spa. This may mean some little delsy with the text, though I still hope to get the typesceript to you during the firet week in July. How with regarå to the plates. These ehsll be returned to you directly they have been checked for arrangment of the figures. & Tre title of the paper 18- "Fer Zastern Glass: some Wostern OFigins", by C.G.Eeligman & H.C.Beck. You willrealize, 1 hope, that no proof was sent of the spectro- grams, except the typed legend attached to the bottom of the card- board besring them, while over the platef there was a tramsparent piece of paper with a number of printed lebels stuck to it. Unfort- unetely meny of these lebels had come off by tha time the proof reached me. 1 don't think thes= printed labels can be stuck on in the Way suggested without an arrow pointing to the sctueal line; the spread of the labels would give a quite falee idea Of where the lines were. Cannot you photorrsph the spectrograms ac they stand? The labels are quite neatly printed. Having made these remarks it seems to me that I had better return to you this plate shortly. I hope to do
