Many thanks also for a the brush for elesning bronzes&; I have seen nothing else thet looks so efficient for the purpose (I misht perhaps mention that the envelope in which it was contained had come open, & had been official- 1y sealeå by the postoffice ånthorities in this country). Mr.Beck ig here ak, & tomorrow he will take uway the plates, made up, except for two that will have to be sent to you later. He will forward the plates to you so thst you get them not later then May 7th. The two missing plates will be concerned with some specimens in & French museum, of which I shell obtain photo- graphes when I am in Peris early in May, & Bome mieroscopie sections upon which Beck is working st present. With regard to the typescript. We will do our beet to let you heve this by June löth, but you will realize thst this must depend to some extent on your being able to send us pulls of the pletes, so that we may check our MS.- especially of Pletes I hope thige is possible; 1if not, it is sure to mean a great deal more correcting in proof. We have cut down the number of folding sheets of spectra to one (instead of 2). MWe think we have been able to do this with- out prejudicing the psper, & we thought you would like this,as we

There will, as we agreed, be 3 coloured plates, but besides these tbkere will be 14 photographic plates, & we cannot see any way p to avoid this number without somewhat laming the peper. There will be a few text figures, but these will be sent you with the types- & script unless you write & ack Beck for them, when he eould send you them at once. I em very glad to have your opinion of the Stoelet bronze, & shall simply ssy that at the Chinese Zxhibition it wes attributed to the Warring States. I shall look up the referencee to the compound eyes on bronges immediately on my return from France. If there i: anything you wish to write to me about you can write here as letters will be forwaråed, though this may mean a little delay.
