0163, Chengtu, June 22, 1937. Professor B. Karlgren, Östastlatiska Samlingarna, Stockholm, Sweden. Dear Professor Karlgren:- I herewith forward to you a very valuable copy of Dr. Grahams report on the Hanchow Excava- tion. Before the excavation started the owner of the ground found some very beautiful jade axes which are now in Dr. Graham”s museum. These jade axes are not reproduced in Graham”s report on the excavations but in the copy in- tended for ÖS he has kindly inserted at the end, photographs of these magnificient specimens. Only a small part of the Hanchow site was excavated by the Graham party. It is the intention of the Academia Sinica to undertake a complete ex- cavation. Tne site can hardly be older than Anyang as there are now specimens of the now so famous black pottery that is generally held to be prehistoric. Will you kindly see to that there gare sent to Dr. Graham a copy of my "Early Chinese Culture," as well as "A Preliminary Report on the archaeological Re- search in Kansu." His address is: e/o West China Union University, Chengtu, Sze. Please also forward a copy of / "Early Chinese Culture" and, 1f possible, also of "Yin and Chow Researches" to Rev. Malcolm F. Farley, Fuklien Christian University, Foochow, Fu. Please also send a copy of the "Barly Chinese Culture" to Mr. Joseph Pleaut, No. 1 Legation Street, Peiping - about whom I wrote you in a Swedish let- ter. Yours very sincerely, AD | I. G. Andersson
