0347, acc fy FE Sobl4Y M. KEEZER & ZOON 10th of December 1936, WIDE KAPELSTEEG I (ROKINI AMSTERDAM tet, 37870 To His Royal Higness The Crown Prince of Sweden, Kensignton Palace, London. Sir. The evening of December 2nd,when Sir Pereivel David was giving & lecture in the London Museum, Your R.H.authorised us to address to Him the photograph of an interesting figure about which we mentioned end forming part of our collection. We beg to enclose this photograph. The figure related to 1s;30 ecM high, made out of a greyish clay as know from the Wei Period and has once been polychromed,as seen from traces left. The flat foot, omly, whereon 1t stands, being of another materisal, seems of some later date. The expression of the face, pose, strange baerd and Phrygian-style bonnet are quite different from chinese aspect, reason why we modestly suggest as our opinion, that the object, which is notwithstanding of chinese made and out of the Wei period, claims to be one of the rarest and most unusual specimens of its groupe. Being aware of the interest of His.R.H.for early chinese ert,we dared to suggest that this figure might be of some importence for students thereof. We are prepered to sell the figure,if Your R.H.thinks it worth and desirable to eacquire,or in case it is the intention of His.R.H. to recommend the acquisition to friends or collectors in Sweden. Having returned home earlier than we expected,we were happy to be able to address this letter to London still, acting thus as was pro- posed by His Royal Highness, We are,of His Royal Highness, the most obedient and humble servants
