I understand from your second letter that you are inclined to take another half share, 2.500:- crowns, upon the eondition "that the money be svent on a really good bronze which in Karlbeck”s opinion is cheap at the price." If no such bronze turns up you shall not wish to take this second half share. TR N In fact, Captaln Spencer Churchill has simultaneously with you given me a similar instruction and I have already wired te Karlbeck giving briefly your ee AR At the same time I have written to him explaining the two instructions in full detail. It is my duty to call your attention to the fact that your second ortional investrent has to carry its share in the running expenses (Karlbeck"s salary, his travelling expenses etc.) of the Syndicate. Consequently it should be realized that out of tha in- vested 2.500:- crowns only approximately 65 £ (1.625:- crowns) will be available for direct buying. It goes without saying that this arrangenent will take place only in the event that Karlbeck can provide you with a very good bronze which is cheap at thi orice. 5. Ontional bronzes. vith reference to specimen B 3 from Wu Kuan Tsun priced at 2.800 Chinese dollars and the mirror number 21062, 1.000 dollars, I have discussed the matter with our treasurer, Dr. Lagrelius, and he suggested that any member of the Syndicate buying an optional bronze from photo sent by PRENSA should pay to the Consortium & commission of ten $ of the price which would make 250 resp. 100 dollars in these cases. My personal opinion is that 2.200 for that small but remarkable bronze vessel B 3 is less exaggerated than 1.000 for the mirror. If I were in your position I think I would offer 2.000 for the bronze vessel and 500 för the mirror, excluding the 250 dollars which you would have to pay as commission to the Syndicate. If you find this suggestion convenient send me only a telegram "wire", what will start me cabling to Karlbeck at once. vith reference to the bell marked A I am very sorry to confess that we have ourselves observed that the price should be not 100, but 700 dollars, our error being caused by Karlbeck”s ambiguous way of writing. The Malmö Museum has already made me wire for this bell. Very sincerely yours
