This text belongs to a group of Umma texts describing rites/offerings conducted in fields, in our case by incantation priests (ma¸s-ma¸s). The text group is described by Sallaberger, who also offers a complete list of references to other similar texts from Umma. Our text is not dated with a month formula but it seems as if this kind of rite was conducted in the first month of the year, i.e. at the beginning of the harvest period.
