Amphoroid crater. Disc base; piriform body; wide neck, slightly widening upward; flat, sloping rim; wide, flat handles from rim to shoulder. Hard, pinkish buff clay; lustrous, buff slip; red to dark reddish-brown lustrous paint. Amphoroid crater. Disc base; piriform body; wide neck, slightly widening upward; flat, sloping rim; wide, flat handles from rim to shoulder. Hard, pinkish buff clay; lustrous, buff slip; red to dark reddish-brown lustrous paint. Mark painted on bottom; base and lower body painted; bands encircling lower body; chevrons and spirals on rim; framed, vertical, S-shaped wavy lines on handles. Similar chariot scenes on mid-body: each chariot is driven by two charioteers; the chariots are dotted with big wheels (FM 39:15); the major part of the men’s dresses are dotted, the upper part of the dresses are solid painted; one charioteer stands behind the other who is driving the chariot; chariot is led by two horses; curved tassels hang from the four reins.; the horses have tall necks; big eyes and large, triangular ears and large genitals; below the horses are bands of running spirals. Various filler motifs: whorl-shells (FM 23:6), two fishes with big eyes (FM 20:7); mycenaean flowers (FM 18:126) on either side of the fish and palms (FM 15:13) in front of the horses. One side worn.
