A kylix (pl. kylikes) is a relatively shallow drinking vessel, typically raised on a stem from a foot and having two horizontal handles disposed symmetrically, although many variants of the shape do exist. Their primary use was for the consumption of wine during symposia and, especially during the Classical period, many were decorated with scenes of a humorous or sexual nature.
