Skulptur: Tsongkapa.
Tsongkapa sitter i meditationsställning (dhyanāsana) med sina händer i hjulvändargesten (dharmacakramudra).

Skulpturen är gjuten i brons. Tsongkapas huvudbonad och en flankerande lotus är brännförgyllda. Skulpturens ansikte, armar och fötter är kallförgyllda. Rödmålad mun, och vit och svart målade ögon. Graverad dekor på klädedräkten. (AA)

Montell berättar:
"Peking was defenitely the right place to collect objects of Lamaistic origin; partly because many lama temples, under the protection of the imperial house, have existed both in the city and its vicinity; partly because objects have constantly found their way here from temples and monasteries in Mongolia and Tibet. Larson and I consequently devoted ourselves to a regular search throughout the many curio-shops of this immense city. We went through one part after another, through street after street and in this way got a good idea of what could be purchased. Our collections increased rapidly, especially, by the addition of paintings and images. Many kinds of textiles, of different colours, mats and garments are necessary parts of the furnishing in a first-rate lama temple, and already from the beginning we attached great importance to this detail and succeded in obtaining exquisite things of which many emanated from the temples in Jehol."
